The Impact of Youth Migration on National Development: case study on Ethiopia

Research Work

The youth in any society are the engine of growth and development; because they provide the labor force for production of goods and services to take effect. And by acquiring knowledge, skills, and values through education, youth contribute to economic growth, social harmony, and technological advancement. They also promote cultural understanding and drive positive change in their communities, ensuring a brighter and more prosperous future for the nation. That is why; a nation without youth is vulnerable to existential threats and makes the core base for the continuous production and reproduction potential of a given society. In addition to, it is palpable reality that the youth is a bridge between the past and future generations that has a direct relationship with war and peace. Although, youth migration is often driven by hopes for a better future, but it can involve precarious circumstances, and uncomfortable work situations. The purpose of the research is to clarify what international migration means, exploring international migration theories and how migration influences development of both sides and the transit ones and current status of youth migration in Ethiopia.
