Research Interests
This research aims to critically analyze the legal frameworks and mechanisms of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and evaluate their implications for promoting sustainable economic development and investment in Myanmar. And also examines how BRI-related laws, agreements, and regulations shape the country’s economic environment, influence cross-border trade and investment, and interact with domestic legal and policy structures.
Research Work
The research direction focuses on analyzing how international and domestic legal frameworks including investment law, contract law, environmental law, and dispute resolution mechanisms shape the negotiation, implementation, and outcomes of BRI projects in Myanmar. By doing so, the study seeks to determine the extent to which Myanmar’s legal and institutional systems can effectively accommodate large-scale foreign investments while safeguarding national interests, environmental protection, and social equity. Furthermore, this research will explore how the interaction between Chinese and Myanmar legal systems creates opportunities and challenges in areas such as transparency, accountability, and sovereignty. It will investigate the degree to which current legal instruments align with international development principles, such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), good governance, and inclusive growth. The study’s long-term research direction is to bridge the gap between law and development practice, by proposing policy-oriented legal reforms that strengthen Myanmar’s capacity to manage foreign investments transparently and equitably.
